Don’t be Fooled by Air Purifier Comparisons

Air Purifier Comparisons can often be just “Smoke and Mirrors.” Health warnings about purifiers and recommendations to purchase a paper filter show an ignorance of how purifiers work (at best) or a hidden agenda pushed by the filtration industry (at worst)

Let me explain!

How do you clean your home? Do you stand in the middle of the kitchen and wait for the counters to come to you to get washed? No, that would be silly. But, that’s basically how passive air filters work: they sit and wait for something (usually air) to come over and get cleaned.

Active
So ask yourself, “Self..., if I had a box that could kill germs, how would I get the kitchen counter through it? Obviously, you can’t. What you need is something that goes where it is needed; something that kills germs on surfaces across the room, removes smoke from the air, and gets rid of odors. You need an active technology that works outside the box.

Pure
Think about how a thunderstorm rolls through, leaving the air clean and renewed; or how sunlight shines down, killing germs and bacteria. Nature uses this “technology” to keep the air outside fresh and clean. If you capture these same processes, put them in a box and take it in to your home, you’ve essentially taken the outside, and brought it inside. This duplication of nature has been accomplished and we have “peer reviewed” university studies that prove it.

Beware of consumer groups that throw together a testing facility for air purifier comparisons proving one technology more effective than another. In spite of the best of intentions:

• they often lack the experience to run a fair test and
• they are not familiar enough with the technology to understand how it works so they make certain assumptions that affect the outcome.

When Consumer Reports recently put our air purifier in a bare room and tested for ozone build-up we could have saved them the trouble. Of course you will have ozone build up because there is nothing for the technology to interact with and clean. In a sterile environment, ozone will not break down readily and levels must inevitably build up to an unsafe level.

This result will not occur in a real world situation.

By technology I mean the “stuff” that makes the active, natural germ-killing, smoke reducing, odor eliminating "thing" happen. Of course there are lights and electronic gizmos in the box but all you really want to know is:
